Scope and what we will tell you honestly
Drywall repair is commonly handled in the same visit. Specialty trade work is coordinated through qualified licensed subcontractors where required.
What a painting scope usually covers
- Preparation is most of the job
- Scraping, sanding, caulking, patching and priming is what decides how long the finish lasts. On an exterior in San Antonio sun, preparation and the choice of primer matter more than the number of finish coats.
- Interior counting
- Interior pricing follows surfaces, not rooms: walls only, or walls plus ceilings, plus trim, doors and closets. Saying which of those you want included is the fastest way to a comparable estimate.
- Cabinets
- Cabinet refinishing in place means degreasing, sanding, priming for adhesion, and finishing doors and boxes. It is a different scope from wall painting and is quoted separately.
What to have ready when you request an estimate
The more of this we have up front, the closer the first number is to the final one.
- Interior or exterior, and which rooms or elevations.
- Whether ceilings, trim, doors and closets are included.
- Approximate square footage or the number of rooms, and the ceiling height.
- The current surface: previously painted drywall, new drywall, stucco, wood siding, or fiber cement.
- Any peeling, chalking, cracking or water staining, with photos.
- Color choices if you have them, or whether you want help narrowing them down.
