- Cutting out damaged board, backing and fastening the patch, taping, floating in coats, sanding, and matching the surrounding texture so the patch does not telegraph through paint.
- Where the scope normally stops
- Drywall repair leaves the surface primed-and-ready. Finish paint of the full wall or room is a separate line item, and color matching a partial wall rarely looks right without painting corner to corner.
- What usually turns out bigger than it looked
- Water-stained ceilings. The stain is the symptom; the board is replaced only after the source is found and stopped, which can mean a roofing or plumbing trade first.
